The Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation sustained its drive on Day 2 of the 2025 Back-2-School Project, delivering vital educational resources to pupils across four schools in three Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Rivers State. Under the leadership of President Hon. Victor Tubotamuno Briggs, the outreach prioritized sequential visits that maximized efficiency and community engagement, reinforcing the foundation’s mission to combat educational disparities in the region.
The day commenced in the vibrant Diobu district of Port Harcourt City Local Government at St. Andrews State School, where the team was welcomed by a sea of smiling faces from students and teachers alike. School bags brimming with notebooks, pens, and other essential materials were distributed amid cheers to the students and umbrellas to the teachers.
Next, the foundation’s convoy headed to Obio/Akpor LGA and the Government Girls Secondary School in Rumueme. The visit highlighted the project’s emphasis on empowering female education, with girls across year groups receiving back to school items that sparked visible excitement. School teachers expressed profound thanks, noting how the items would ease the strain on families amid soaring living costs.
The itinerary then shifted to Ikwerre LGA, targeting the Omuigwe community in Aluu Clan with a comprehensive stop at both the Community Primary School and the neighboring Community Secondary School. This dual distribution reached a broad spectrum of ages, from wide-eyed primaries clutching their new sets of books and bags to secondary students excitedly receiving their goodies. The seamless handover, executed in the school’s open grounds, fostered a festive atmosphere, with teachers joining in applause for the timely intervention.
With Day 3 on the horizon, the Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation urges continued collaboration from donors and allies to extend this wave of support.
Stay tuned via official channels for highlights from the next leg, as Rivers State’s educational landscape continues to flourish one school at a time.
