The Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation has officially launched the implementation phase of its 2025 Back-2-School Project, aimed at supporting underprivileged pupils across Rivers State with essential educational supplies. The initiative, which kicked off yesterday, October 28, 2025, got underway with a high-profile informative visit to the Rivers State Police Command, setting a tone of collaboration between the foundation and the security agencies in the State.
Leading the foundation’s delegation was its President, Hon. Victor Tubotamuno Briggs, who was warmly received by the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju Adewole, alongside a team of senior ranking officers. The visit served as a formal notification of the project’s scope and objectives.
In a gesture of immediate impact, the team handed over a consignment of Back-2-School items; including school bags, books, writing materials, etc, intended for the Police Children School. The supplies were received by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for safekeeping, with a formal distribution to the pupils slated for a later date. “This partnership underscores our shared goal of empowering the next generation through education,” Hon. Briggs stated during the handover, highlighting the foundation’s dedication to holistic community development.
The day’s activities continued seamlessly at the Nigerian Navy Primary School, Pathfinder, Port Harcourt, where the foundation team was greeted by the school’s management. There, the much-anticipated distribution of Back-2-School kits took place directly to the excited pupils. Eyewitnesses described scenes of pure delight as children clutched their new supplies, their faces lighting up with gratitude and appreciation towards the kind gestures of the Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation (VTBF).
Spanning nine consecutive weekdays, the implementation phase is poised to cover more than 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) across Rivers State, while prioritizing outreach to schools affiliated with security institutions in the state. The project seeks to alleviate the financial burdens on families amid rising costs of education, ensuring no child is left behind in accessing quality learning materials.
As the initiative gains momentum, stakeholders in Rivers State have praised the Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation for its proactive role in bridging educational gaps. With the academic year in full swing, the project arrives at a critical juncture, promising to brighten the futures of thousands of young learners in the oil-rich Niger Delta region.
The foundation has called on corporate sponsors and well-meaning individuals to join hands in scaling up future phases, underscoring that education remains the bedrock of sustainable progress. Updates on subsequent days’ distributions will be shared via the foundation’s official channels.
