In a significant gesture of appreciation and solidarity, members of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Lagos State Chapter, led by the Chapter Chairman, Comrade Tonye Leonard Harry, paid a courtesy call on the Founder/President of the Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation, Hon. (Dr) Victor Tubotamuno Briggs.
The visit aimed to acknowledge Hon. Briggs for his unwavering support towards the Ijaw community, particularly the Lagos branch. During the meeting, the INC members officially invited Hon. Briggs to the upcoming Ijaw National Day Celebration, scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025. At this event, Hon. Briggs is set to receive an Award of Recognition for his outstanding support and contributions to the INC, Lagos branch.
Hon. Briggs expressed his gratitude for the recognition and shared the vision and mission behind the establishment of the Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation. He highlighted the milestones achieved by the foundation since its inception and reiterated his commitment to supporting the Ijaw community. In a generous gesture, he approved 50 slots for the INC in the ongoing 2025 Free JAMB Registration Scheme.
Emphasizing the importance of giving back to his roots, Hon. Briggs stated, “As an Ijaw son, I cannot carry out outreach programs and projects across Nigeria and beyond without touching the lives of members of my ethnic group. Charity, they say, begins at home.” The INC members left the meeting with renewed enthusiasm and appreciation for Hon. Briggs’ dedication to the Ijaw community. The forthcoming Ijaw National Day Celebration promises to be a memorable event, honoring those who have made significant contributions to the community.
