Bringing the curtains down on its ambitious 2025 Back-2-School Project, the Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation executed a coordinated finale on the last day, splitting into teams for simultaneous distributions in three communities spanning two Local Government Areas (LGAs): Kula in Akuku-Toru and Obuama (Harry’s Town) and Bille in Degema. This closing lap delivered essential kits to 10 schools, capping a 12-weekday odyssey that fortified education for thousands of pupils across over 15 LGAs in Rivers State.
To maximize reach in these riverine strongholds, the foundation’s groups converged in Obuama in Degema LGA first, supplying school bags, exercise books, and stationery to students at Community Secondary School Obuama (UBE) and Harry Memorial State School, while equipping teachers with umbrellas for their vital roles. The handovers in Obuama’s historic enclave provided a seamless bridge from primary to secondary learning, offering families in the area much-needed support as the academic term accelerates.
Parallel efforts unfolded in Bille, also in Degema LGA, where the team outfitted pupils across six institutions: Universal Basic Education (UBE) Bille, State School Krikama, Bille, State School 1 Bille, State School Jike-Ama Bille, State School 2 Bille, and Early Childcare Development Education Bille, with the core kits. This comprehensive sweep in Bille addressed early childhood through primary stages, injecting vitality into foundational education amid the LGA’s unique coastal dynamics.
Concurrently, the third contingent touched down in Kula, Akuku-Toru LGA, distributing the same pupil essentials to learners at State School Kula and Community Secondary School Kula, alongside teacher umbrellas. Nestled in Akuku-Toru’s resilient oceanic terrain, these distributions rounded out support for both primary and secondary youth, ensuring the project’s equity extended to every corner of the LGA.
This final synchronized push in Kula, Obuama, and Bille embodies the foundation’s unyielding commitment to Rivers State’s children; from Day 1’s security partnerships to a final triumphant close, the VTBF have equipped minds and lightened loads across the Niger Delta. The 12-weekday rollout has now reached dozens of schools, from security institutions to riverine primaries and urban secondaries, distributing thousands of kits that promise sustained academic momentum.
