2025 BACK-TO-SCHOOL INITIATIVE BRINGS HOPE TO STUDENTS IN NIGER STATE

Suleja, Niger State – September 23, 2025 – The Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation (VTBF), in collaboration with the Arewa Youths Advocacy for Good Governance (AYAGG), launched the 2025 Back to School Initiative with a transformative event at Junior Secondary School, Suleja, yesterday. This pilot phase of a broader program set to span five states in Northern Nigeria brought smiles and renewed hope to over 150 students, including 30 less privileged orphans.

The initiative, designed to advance Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG-4): Quality Education, provided essential school supplies such as exercise books, writing materials, and school bags. Additionally, VTBF and AYAGG covered school levies for the 30 orphans, ensuring they can continue their education without financial barriers.

“This is about giving every child a chance to learn and thrive,” said the Northern Liaison Manager, Mr. Muhammad Awwal. “We believe education is a right, not a privilege, and we’re committed to making that a reality for these students.”

The event in Suleja marked the first step in a regional effort to support underserved communities. With plans to expand across Northern Nigeria, the initiative aims to reach even more children in need, providing them with the tools to pursue their academic dreams.

Students at Junior Secondary School expressed gratitude, with one beneficiary stating, “This bag and these books mean I can keep studying. I’m so happy.” The joy and optimism at the event underscored the initiative’s immediate impact.

As VTBF and AYAGG prepare to roll out the program in other states, their efforts highlight a growing movement to ensure equitable education for all. The success in Suleja sets a promising tone for what’s to come, as the organizations work to empower the next generation through learning.
