VICTOR TULUTU BRIGGS FOUNDATION ADVANCES EFFORTS TO BUILD LEGAL CAPACITY AMONG YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

Leadership from the foundation held a strategic meeting yesterday with the Deputy Director of Arbitration & ADR (Africa) at ICC Dispute Resolution Services, part of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris, France. The discussions centered on a proposed collaboration to organize a specialized Arbitration Training Programme for 100 young lawyers in Nigeria.

The VTBF delegation was led by Barr. Sotonye Bamson, Manager of Legal and Compliance, along with other executive members. The meeting, held at the foundation’s Lagos Liaison office, was as impactful and strategic, with positive outcomes. Participants discussed detailed scope for the programme and implementation measures, aligning closely with the ICC’s ongoing commitment to expanding knowledge and nurturing the next generation of arbitration practitioners across Africa.

This initiative supports VTBF’s broader mission, championed by the Founder/President, Hon. (Dr) Victor Tubotamuno Briggs, to empower Nigerian youth through targeted professional development. It also reinforces the ICC’s focus on strengthening arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) expertise on the continent, particularly through high-quality, internationally recognized training.

Further details, including confirmed dates and the full training schedule, will be announced publicly once both parties finalize agreements on the modalities.

The collaboration is poised to equip young Nigerian lawyers with essential skills in arbitration, fostering a stronger dispute resolution ecosystem in Nigeria and contributing to Africa’s growing prominence in global ADR frameworks.

Stay tuned for official updates from the Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation as this exciting programme progresses.
