Marking a high-impact milestone in its ongoing 2025 Back-2-School Project, the Victor Tulutu Briggs Foundation surged forward on Day 5, empowering fourteen schools across two riverine Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Rivers State: Asari-Toru and Akuku-Toru. Led by President Hon. Victor Tubotamuno Briggs, the expansive outreach distributed critical learning materials to hundreds of pupils, highlighting the foundation’s dedication to coastal communities often overlooked in educational aid.
The day’s efforts launched in Asari-Toru LGA, where the team delivered school bags, exercise books, and stationery to pupils across five key institutions: Kalabari Girls High School Buguma, Kalabari National College (Senior), Asari-Toru Nursery/Primary School, UPE City Model School, and Kalabari National College (Junior); while presenting umbrellas to teachers for their daily commutes. The distributions unfolded amid communal gatherings in Buguma and surrounding areas, fostering a shared sense of upliftment for learners from primary through senior secondary levels. The collective handover not only equipped students for the term in session but also strengthened ties with teachers, who received the practical gifts with appreciation.
Transitioning across the Kalabari heartlands to Akuku-Toru LGA, the foundation extended the same essential kits to six diverse schools: Nyemoni Grammar School, St. Augustine Anglican School, Bishop Crowther Memorial High School Abonnema, Nyemoni State School, Fruitful Educational Centre, Desire Academy, Abonnema Girls Secondary School, Community Secondary School, Obonoma, U.P.E. Model Primary School Abonnema, and St. Joseph State School Abonnema; alongside umbrellas for the teaching staff. This clustered outreach created an atmosphere of unified progress, benefiting pupils across primary, junior secondary, and senior school stages.
This eleventh-hour surge on Day 5 propels the project into its second week with unparalleled scale. From security outposts on Day 1 to the riverine strongholds, the foundation’s blueprint for equity resonates deeply in the Niger Delta’s fabric.
